Single-Use Driveshaft Cables: Planning Stock for Your Towing Kit

Published November 1, 2026

Driveshaft Cables are single-use: cut off and discard them after each job. Planning supplies starts with the number of fresh cables your own work requires, including the lengths needed for your setups.

Count cables by length

Review the cable requirements for each job and keep Standard and XL counts separate. The Standard and XL buying guide explains the length comparison and links to the current specifications.

Standard and XL each have a minimum order of 10 cables, in increments of 10 per length. An order of 20 Standard and 10 XL contains 30 cables, with pricing determined separately for the two lengths.

Use your own job history to plan replenishment. This guide does not prescribe how many cables a particular driveline needs or a universal stock level for every truck.

Keep a cutter with the cable supplies

Driveshaft Cable Cutters are sold individually. Include the number of cutters needed for your own equipment and crews when reviewing your supplies.

After each job, cut off and discard the used cable. Do not put used cables back into fresh stock, and do not use a damaged cable.

Keep bolt packs distinct from cable counts

Value Brake Caging Bolts are a different product, ordered in packs of 10. Two packs contain 20 bolts. Their pack count is not the same as a cable quantity.

The bolts have an 18mm hex. Confirm the chamber manufacturer's required tool and service procedure before use; hex size alone does not establish compatibility. Read the 18mm bolt-pack buying guide for the ordering details.

A practical replenishment check

  • Count fresh Standard cables and fresh XL cables separately.
  • Check cables for damage before use and keep used cables out of fresh stock.
  • Count cutters individually and brake caging bolts by 10-pack.
  • Review current product-page availability and quantity prices.
  • Read the shipping and returns page when planning your order.

For installation, use the full driveshaft tie-up instructions and the vehicle manufacturer's procedures. For dealer, fleet or special-order quantities, request a quote. For normal orders, shop online with automatic volume pricing.
